FAQs

  • Do I need to have a doctor’s prescription to begin Physical Therapy?

No, you are no longer required to have a doctor’s prescription to begin Physical Therapy. The State of Louisiana now has Direct Access laws in place that will allow you to see your PT for up to 30 days without a doctor’s prescription and this will still be covered by your insurance! Call today with your physician’s prescription or schedule through Direct Access.

  • When my Dr. recommends therapy, do I have a choice in choosing my provider?

Yes, YOU HAVE A CHOICE and we recommend exploring all of your options when selecting your therapy services. At LOTS, we have experienced staff members with over 75 years of experience that you can trust. We are dedicated to help you overcome your injury/condition and provide you with the best treatment and services available. We are confident that we will exceed all of your expectations and help you enhance your quality of life!

  • When should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes early to your first visit to fill out new patient paperwork, if necessary. For future visits, please arrive on time for scheduling purposes. Please notify us in advance if you cannot make your appointment time.

  • What should I bring to my first visit?

For your initial visit, please have your insurance card, doctors’ orders and protocols (if provided), any medications you are taking, and appropriate medical history. If you have any co-pays or deductibles through your insurance provider, that will be collected at the time of check-in.

  • What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Skirts, dresses, and suits are not recommended for therapy services at LOTS. These choices may result in physical discomfort for you and may not allow the therapist to treat you properly.

  • What should I expect during my first visit with the PT/OT?

During your first visit, the therapist will screen the area(s) that needs to be evaluated and review any prior medical history. Based on your needs, the therapist will decide the frequency and duration of your appointments for the future. Depending on your injury or area of complaint, the therapist may start treatment on day one.

  • How long will my appointments last?

Your first visit (evaluation phase) will last approximately one hour. Please allow 45 minutes to an hour for following visits.

  • How often do I need to come?

The therapist will determine how often your appointments will be depending on protocols and severity of your condition/injury. Usually, 2-3 times a week is suitable.

  • Who pays for the treatment?

We accept all commercially insured patients as well as Medicare and Worker’s Comp. Most insurance companies have coverage for therapy services. However, the amount covered varies from plan to plan.

  • What are my payment options?

All co-pays are to be paid at the time of treatment. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards.
